London mission boost Ebola

Sierra Leone’s a High Commissioner to the United Kingdom will release a large consignment of medical materials for the treatment of the dreaded Ebola virus for shipment to Sierra Leone.

His Excellency Edward Mohamed Turay had already sent some consignment medical materials to Sierra Leone earlier last month and believed they could go a long way in addressing both the logistical and medical needs for the treatment of the disease.

“As a mission out duty is to compliment our authorities in Sierra Leone to overcome this disease that continues to ravage our people back home,” Turay said adding that he was happy that Sierra Leoneans here in the United Kingdom have been responding both in their respective groups and in their personal capacities.

The Sierra Leone High Commission has organised several meetings in London to brainstorm with members of the Sierra Leonean community in the United Kingdom as well as experts on Ebola working in Sierra Leone in a bid to brief the Sierra Leonean Diaspora community on government’s efforts in the fight against Ebola.

Recently, the High Commission succeeded in influencing over 780,000 Euros from the Finnish Government following an appeal during a recent visit in that country.

The High Commissioner also visited Sweden where he meet and hang heads with Sierra Leoneans on the way forward.

Meanwhile, the Sierra Leone High Commission is making contact with the British Foreign Office to appeal for extension on behalf of Sierra Leoneans trapped in the United Kingdom following the Ebola outbreak.
