PRESS RELEASE – MOHS

Freetown, Aug. 9, 014 (MOHS) – The Ministry of Health and Sanitation recognizes the fact that we are a religious country and appreciates the roles our religious leaders have played in helping stop the spread of this disease through sensitization and public messages.

The Ministry hereby informs the public that washing with salt and warm water has not been clinically proven to stop humans from contracting the disease or from stopping the spread of the disease.

It is in this vein that the Ministry is appealing to the general public to continue to abide by the preventive messages from the Ministry of Health and Sanitation and its partners.

The spread of Ebola can only be prevented by avoiding physical contacts with sick Ebola patients, regularly washing our hands with soap and water, regularly cleaning and disinfecting homes, avoid burial of Ebola dead bodies, avoid harboring Ebola sick person in home and referring Ebola patients to hospitals early for supportive treatment.
