Konteh Ernest Babar wanted dead

The leader of a small scale mining company in Ropolon, Bumbuna, in the north of Sierra Leone, Mr.  Konteh Ernest Babar, is currently on the run after receiving death threats from some ex-combatants who are also employees of the company, this paper has been reliably informed.

According to reports reaching this press, sometime in September 2011, Mr. Konteh Ernest Babar was given a large quantity of gold to sell abroad on behalf of the company in order to raise money for the company to expand and sponsor some of the ex-combatants to be trained in various technical skills.

A source who spoke to this reporter on condition of anonymity explained that up to this moment Konteh had neither returned nor had he sent the proceeds from the sale of the said gold.

The source further explained that after they have waited for his return for over six months the ex-combatants realized that Konteh had absconded with their gold, leaving their future bleak.

He said at this point they decided to search for him over the country and even made investigations overseas through some of their contacts but they were unable to trace Konteh.

He also stated that the failure to locate Konteh got the ex-combatants so angry that in December last year, under the cover of darkness, some unidentified men raided the family home of Konteh where they issued threats to his family that if they fail to produce Konteh they will be left with no alternative but to kill them all the next time they visit them.

The source further explained that fearful for their lives Konteh’s family members have long deserted their home and disappeared.

“No one knows where they are up to this present moment,” he noted.

He stressed that the ex-combatants have vowed to kill Konteh the day they set their eyes on him as they say he is a traitor who has destroyed their future hopes.

He pointed out that as a friend of Konteh, he would advise him to stay wherever he is and not to return as he has been marked for death.

“Even as I am talking to you now the ex-combatants are searching for him to kill him,” he concluded.
