SLPP degenerates into anarchy

Following the suspension of the National Chairman, Somano Kapen and the secretary General Sulaiman Banja Tejan – Sie by some disgruntled members of the Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) this has further degenerated the party into a state of anarchy with members at each others throat.

The disgruntled members are allegedly to have shut the office doors of the National Chairman preventing him from using his office on Thursday 19^th June 2014.

Two trucks of Police personnel’s also stormed the party headquarters the same day. According to the Police they were acting on a tip off as they received intelligence that they have turned the party office into a Ghetto. The patrol was led by ASP Musa Bangura of the Central Police Division. According to the ASP they arrested 21 people with over 60 parcels of jamba.

The aggrieved faction accused the Chairman and the Secretary General that since their election only two meetings have been held. They also accused them of widening their divide of the party and allegedly accused the Chairman of attending APC functions leaving his elected constitutional responsibilities unattended.

The suspended National Chairman, Somano Kapen and the legitimate body referred to the suspension body as illegal and that their action does not conform to the tenets of the party’s constitution.

Some members interviewed said as far as they are concerned Chief Somano Kapen remains to be the party’s National Chairman and Banja Tejan-Sie the National Secretary General till another delegate conference.
