Parliament is a vital House to Sustainable Development

The Parliamentary Committee on Labour and Industrial Relations pursuance of Suction 93 Sub-Suction 1, 2, 3 and 6 were on 10th June this year summoned senior officers in charge of administrations and finance to clarifies on payments of allegedly by the National Social Security and Insurance Trust NASSIT contributions for staff of institutions at the state Hall Parliament Building Tower Hill, Freetown.

The committee which committed to continuing its work with workers Employers and Employees Leaders in conjunction with NASSIT to improve workers outcome for young people to developed their ability skills undertaking and outlook to work in global economy and contribute responsibly to society.

Chairman Francis Amara Konuwa of Constituency 014 in Kenema District said the committee is to investigate in order to resolve to the allegedly amount by NASSIT to ensure that payment are made to NASSIT in case an institution is found culpable.

He said that as a result, the committee will be required to present relevant documents pertaining to the monthly contributions to NASSIT scheme on behalf of employees at institutions as he said the committee will also envisage looking forward into the welfare the administrations are requested to further furnish the committee with relevant information on the following issues.

He noted that the committee will be required a spreadsheet on all employees indicating names, posts salaries, NASSIT Contributions etc. and as well as expatriates/foreign  workers permit and payment tax.

The parastatals were include Njala University College main campus, National Agricultural Training center, University of Sierra Leone, Milton Margi School for the Bland, Sierra Leone Road Transport cooperation, Sierra Leone Roads Authority, Mechanical Service Unit of SLRA,  etc.
