Sierra Leone joins top dignitaries in Mecca

The Emir of Mecca, Prince Mishal Bin Abdullah led the ceremonial washing of the Holy Kaa’ba on behalf of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud.
The Minister of Culture and Information, Abdulaziz bin Mohiuddin Khoja; head of the Presidency of the Two Holy Mosques, Sheikh Abdul Rahman Al-Sudais, his deputy, Muhammad Al-Khozaim, Mecca Municipal Mayor, Osama al-Bar, Diplomats from Islamic states, Islamic Scholars and other Saudi dignitaries also participated in the ceremonial washing of the Kaa’ba.
The washing ritual of the Kaa’ba is carried out twice in the year – before the beginning of the fasting month of Ramadan and at the end of the Muslim pilgrimage (Hajj).
Meanwhile, Sierra Leone’s Ambassador says he used the opportunity to pray for his country. “I think it’s good to use the opportunity when performing such a religious rite to pray fervently for your country. I prayed for Sierra Leone, its leadership, unity and peaceful co-existence in our country,” he said after the religious exercise.
