I G Munu bans After U Na U/ After Bagbo Na U

Inspector General (IG) of police Francis Munu has on the popular ‘Good Morning Salone’ radio program on 98.1 Fm on Monday 19th May 2014 banned the printing of “After U Na U’ or ‘After Bagbo Na U’ on ‘T’-shirts as both inscriptions are provocative and has the propensity to undermined the peace and security of the state.

I G Munu together with civil society activist Charles Mambu were responding to questions on the arrest of one artist Mr. Solomon Cooper at Kenema for printing four ‘T ‘-shirts with the inscription of ‘After Bagbo Na U’.   Mr. Cooper was released later, but the arrest has left so much mixed feeling among civil society organizations and the general civil populace of Sierra Leone for openly muzzling freedom of speech which many say is unconstitutional.

After a heated up argument between I.G. Munu and Charles Mambu the Inspector General was able to sense that both inscriptions are provocative and the printing of such inscriptions on ‘T’-shirt are banned till further notice, but the wearing of the already printed ‘T’-shirts remained unanswered.
