Project Fame West Africa Season 7 is back
Audition for the 2014 MTN-Project Fame West Africa will be held on the 30th May, at the British Council auditorium, Mucktarr Tejan-Cole, representative of Project Fame in Sierra Leone, has said.
The audition, which aims at exposing grass roots musical talents, is mainly sponsored by MTN. The competition is opened to anyone between 18 to 35 years who can sing to impress the judges.
T.J Cole, as the MTN local representative is commonly known, told SaloneJamboree that this year’s audition will be different from the past years. He said a team from Nigeria will arrive on Wednesday May, 28th to be part of the process.
He revealed the names of the judges to SaloneJamboree, which includes former Ballanta Academy Principal, Dr. Kitty Fadlu – Deen, Daphne Atere-Roberts and Soundboy Richie.
“We are encouraging young musically talented youngsters from all works of life to step forward and be counted.”
T.J Cole also said they are looking for the best unsigned artists to represent Sierra Leone in Nigeria, where a further audition will be held for qualification into the academy.
11 contestants will be housed at the academy from July to 28th September, and they will be evicted one by one. The ultimate winner will receive over US$50, 000 cash prize and a contract to record an album.
At the 2008 event, Sierra Leone was well represented by Brenda Johnson. She has recorded an album of her own, although she wasn`t a winner.
In 2009, Anis Halloway also did very well in the competition. He has also recorded an album and due to his performance, has secured a job with Ultima Media Communications in Nigeria.
