I almost signed for Arsenal …goal scorer revealed
“Lack of European passport prevented me from playing for the English Premier League side, Arsenal,” Leone Stars away goal scorer, Ibrahim Fullah told this press in a special interview.
In 2006, Fullah revealed that the Gunners’ scout accorded him the opportunity to train with the junior side following his outstanding performance in a junior competition organized in Italy.
He continued that the Arsenal suggested to loan him out instead but his manager, he stated was smart enough to stop the move because it will require sufficient time and procedures to acquire an EU passport for a teenager outside Europe.
Fullah grew up in Italy and joined Atalanta at age 13, he had the opportunity to meet with former Leone Stars defender, Kewullay Conteh who he said was very inspiring. As a blessing in disguise, Fullah said he was extremely lucky to come in contact with Zanetti’s manager who guided him throughout his career.
The Leone Stars goal scorer said he an option to play for Inter Milan feeder club, Academie Inter where he scored some 23 goals. His scoring prowess saw him promoted to Inter’s second division side Avelli but his stay was however short-lived as he ended the season with injuries.
In 2009 also joined Eupen in Belgium as he continues the fight for a permanent resident but his manager quickly worked out things for him at Parma where he played few matches before signing for FC Brussels as the third Sierra Leonean to play for that club.
Fullah Kamara currently plies his trade for Bulgaria top side, Eata. He said he felt delighted over his debut goal in second appearance for Leone Stars and expressed the hope that they will cruise through to the group stage and consequently qualify to Morocco, 2015.
