Prisoner commits suicide
Prince Koi Senessie, a twenty-five year old remand prisoner, was on Sunday morning found hanging in his cell at the Kailahun State Prisons.
Senessie was answering larceny charges involving property worth over two million Leones, before Magistrate Komba Kamanda, circuit magistrate for the Kenema and Kailahun districts. The Principal Officer of the Kailahun State Prisons, Andrew John Sankoh, said the deceased reportedly sneaked into his cell after breakfast on Sunday morning and used his bed spread to hang himself to the ventilation bars of his cell.
The deceased was to appear in court on the Fifteenth April for a possible committal of his matter to the High Court in Kenema. His corpse has been taken to the Kailahun Government Hospital for post-mortem.Â
