Under the leadership of Alie Suma, Managing Director of Timber Harvesters, Processors and Exporters (SL) Limited, the new factory is expected to contribute to the development of the country as it will create jobs for Sierra Leoneans in a bid to accelerate the Agenda for Prosperity. Suma told this press that over the years he has been working towards promoting youth employment in his Timber Processing Factory at Manor Corner, Waterloo. “I have employed 450 staff, 100% are Sierra Leoneans of which 50% are street boys and girls,” he said, noting that he has also employed 500 youths for the new factory and intends extending it to 800.

Apart from his Timber Processing factory at Mano Corner and the new one that will be opened today, Suma is currently putting up another factory in fulfillment of Government Policy, which is to add value to timber before exported out of the country. ‘I trust in the government because it knows how and when to do things that will enhance national development,’ says Suma.

‘I am the first Sierra Leonean to embrace the Agenda for Prosperity in the Timber Industry. I trust the Government will give me the opportunity to operate my business in a secured manner,’ he said.
