Plans to revamp Public and Political Affairs Ministry

The Deputy Minister of Public and Political Affairs, Hon. Karamoh Kabba (in photo) has told this medium that there are plans to revamp the entire ministry.

He said the whole Ministry needs to be restructured. He mentioned that the Ministry has not only established an organogram by mobilizing public sector reform unit but they have also many times honored the Human Resource Management Office (HRMO) and record management. He echoed that they have tabled it in cabinet and it has been approved at the same time the ministry has developed Terms of Reference (TOR) so that they can develop the human capacity of the Ministry.

The Deputy Minister said since he and his boss was transferred to the ministry they have been making frantic efforts to lift the ministry to a higher height and introduced a self assessment scheme which according to him, enabled the Ministry to identify challenges which includes the poor human resource capacity, a process he said they are going through to normalize.

Mr. Kabba proclaimed one of their duties is “To promote democracy, transparency and good governance among others,” he said and described the work of the Ministry as very much  challenging but are very much determine to overcome all of those challenges on a daily basis. He said the ministry is serving the interest of the people of Sierra Leone including political parties, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), and Non Governmental Organizations (NGOs) among the hosts, adding that his Ministry mediates between Government and the people of Sierra Leone. “We must resolve conflict in a way we enhance our living standard,” he said. The Minister pointed out that they usually organized open discussions to settle conflict.
