“African Countries Need Sports Court For Growth”…IAAF Marketing Adviser

Papa Diack, Marketing Adviser for the International Association of Athletics Federation (IAAF), and owner of Pamodzi Sports Marketing has said that sports would only grow in Africa if countries in the continent have Sports Courts.

Delivering a paper title: “Changing Africa’s Sports Fortunes Through Marketing and Media” at the just ended AIPS-Africa Congress in Dakar Senegal, Diack said: “there is no way sports in Africa can move positively forward if countries in the continent don’t have sports courts.”

He said for this to happen, governments have to play a national role to attract and get private sponsorships.

The Senegalese-born Papa Diack added sport is a big industry in which everybody can benefit, noting further revenue generated from the industry must be shared equally among the business companies that invest in sports, the sportsmen and the media.

“But for this to happen there must be a legal statute that binds everybody involved,” he said.

He said the media can make or break the faith of sports, adding: “there is nothing wrong in business houses going into partnerships with the media by providing capacity building, equipment and tips in return for the mileage the media can provide.

The IAAF Marketing Adviser Papa Diack concludes by stating Africa Athletics is now growing when it comes to sponsorships, which he attributes to the cordial relationship between his company Pamodzi and the local and international media.
