Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at Sierra Leone holds 53rd Jalsa Salana Annual Conference in Bo City
The Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at in Sierra Leone has concluded their 53rd Jalsa Salana Annual Conference in Bo Southern Sierra Leone.
The three day congregation which brought together thousands of Muslims from all over the country was held at the Ahmadiyya Muslim Secondary School grounds in Bo.
In his opening remarks, the Amir and Missionary in charge Maulana Saeed –Ur –Rahman said, the day marks another mile stone in the lives of the Muslim Jama’at in Sierra Leone and the world at large.
He noted that, the right of any individual is your Religion and that, every body has the right to belong to any religion of his or her choice.
Maulana Saeed- Ur-Rahman expressed thanks and appreciation to the Christians present for honoring their invitation adding that this has clearly exhibit religious tolerance.
He also expressed his profound gratitude to all those who came from far and wide to grace the August gathering and make it a success.
Making her statement on behalf of her colleague Mayors, the Mayor of the Makeni City Council Madam Sunkarie Kabba Kamara said, she feels greatly honored and privilege to be present at this wonderful gathering, which display respect and fear for the Almight Allah in celebration for the 53rd Ahmadiyya Jalsa Salana in Bo.
She revealed that, this reminds them of their responsibility to remain committed to serve God. Mayor Sunkarie Kabba Kamara expressed thanks to the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at for organizing such a gathering and stressed the need for continuity.
She pointed out that, Sierra Leone is a religious tolerance state and pray that, the country will continue to enjoy this religious tolerance.
Responding, the secretary general of the inter religious council Dr Usman Fornah thanked the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at for the respect given to the inter religious dialogue especially for the promotion of religious tolerance in this country. They see the Amir of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at as a very perfect example of some body that promote religious tolerance in this country, which top officials from different denominations who are not part of the Amadis are present to grace the occasion.
Dr. Fornah also expressed thanks to his Excellency Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma for supporting the inter religious council in the promotion of religious tolerance in Sierra Leone.
He recalled that, very recently people came from the diaspora to recognized and commend the President for the promotion of religious tolerance, this he said has given courage to the inter religious council.
Delivering his keynote statement prior to the formal opening of the conference, His Excellency Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma noted that, he is very elated to be present at such a gathering to continue in demonstrating their commitment on tolerance and service which the Ahmadiyya Mission is providing for this country.
He started by congratulating the leader of the Ahmadiyya Mission in the whole world and also the Amir and the Ahmadiyya Mission in Sierra Leone for the wonderful 53rd Annual conference in Bo. As a Government they are here to show that they are in partnership with them, and they supported what they have been doing over the years and believe that if this partnership continues they will reach their desired goal.
According to the president , as a mission they have been demonstrating things that shows that Islam is a religion of tolerance and Islam is for education, peace and a religion that does not promote extremism, and because all these things are in line with his government that is why he had make it a point of duty to attend the all important meeting and to also participate on it because a meeting of such nature is providing an opportunity to refresh their memories and go out with new commitment.
President Koroma revealed that, when people talk about tolerance in Islam is always there. He made reference to the holy prophet Muhammad( SAW) that, when he returned to Mecca the people rejected him but that, he treated them with tolerance and compassion and that one he went on, help to convince another people to join Islam.
He admonished all and sundry to be tolerance and treat our fellow human beings with fairness, honesty, devotion and love.
Meaningful statements were delivered by Honourable Moijue Kaikai Minister of social welfare gender and children’s affairs and Alhaji Fajire Deen president of the Sierra Leone Muslim congress among others.
