As parliamentarians praise mayor for city hall, FCC commemorates Freetown 222 yrs

Deliberating on the City Hall project, Parliamentarians commended Mayor Bode Gibson for taking up this venture to rebuild the City Hall under his administration.
Hon. Rosaline Smith of Moyamba District praised Mayor Gibson as he has been working in the interest of peace and development of an improved city despite the challenges.
She recalled that Freetown is the oldest city in West Africa and with the new city hall, it will serve as a major step for the city to regain its lost glory, stating that what the Government of South Korea have done will be an eye opener when the building would have been completed.
Hon. Ansu Kaikai also revealed that the Mayor will have to meet with the finance committee of parliament for a bailout package as the building will have to effect change.
He also lay emphasis on the need to monitor the duty free concession when the project kicks off. He also praised the Mayor for standing his grounds to ensure that the city gains sanity
Hon. Frank Kposowa said the Ministry of Tourism is also going to benefit from the new multipurpose city hall, and that the Mayor deserves a tap on the back because he has scored a historic goal for his country.
He also admonished the Mayor and Staff of Council to continue their good work, Freetown is the Pride of Africa and they should work towards a better Freetown.
Even though the contract has been awarded to a Korean Construction Company called Samoo Architect Company, the Majority leader of Parliament Hon. Ibrahim Bundu called on the Mayor and the Finance Ministry to ensure that they employ more of Sierra Leoneans to do the work because the building is for Sierra Leone.
Also the Freetown City Council commemorates the 222 years anniversary of Freetown with a thanksgiving and memorial service at the St. Georges Cathedral, followed by a procession to the Cotton Tree where the City was re-dedicated to God.
