Tropical Farms holds raffle draw in Kenema
Tropical Farms Limited, a leading a cocoa company based in Sierra Leone, on 28th February, 2014 held a raffle draw at their regional head office at Hangha Road in Kenema.
The draw according to the General Manager, Retired Major Bob Cowan said the raffle draw was the first of its kind to be organized in the region in order to encourage it numerous business partners in this part of the region.
He disclosed that any cocoa farmer that sold 50 kilograms of well dried cocoa beans to the company will be allowed to one raffle draw ticket.
He further maintained that plans are underway to help broaden the mind set of his customers through training so that they can benefit from the cocoa they produce.
Major Bob Cowan also stated that the process would be organized twice every year and there will be prizes for both the rainy season and dry season for the various grades of cocoa.
The Chairperson of the occasion, who is also the Office Manager of Freetown, Ms. Margret Moseray, called on the people of the eastern region to embrace agriculture especially cocoa farming so that they can help in enhancing food security and economic growth in the country.
She disclosed that their key aim is to provide income for the people through job creation and training which will help the people to learn how to process their cocoa.
Similar contributions were made by the Finance Manager, Mr. Vandi Ansumana and the Deputy Finance Manager, Mr. James Thomas respectively.
The star prize for the draw was a TVS motor bike which went to Mr. Mohamed Moiwai who is an agent of company in Kenema and consolation prizes were one Tiger generator, one bundle zinc, one foam mattress, five bags of cement, and one year school fees among others.
