Tambakha Chieftaincy election in disarray
Even though the National Electoral Commission (NEC) has stated that they will conduct the Tambakha Paramount Chief election in May this year, what seems to be the burning issue presently is the stance taken by the seven disqualified candidates of the Upper Tambakha to boycott the election as they see themselves as having been calculatedly robbed of their rights.
An elder of Upper Tambakha has stated that they have 70% of the electorates and that they are going to listen to their disqualified candidates to boycott the election.
A disqualified candidate disclosed that two months ago a letter was sent to President Ernest Bai Koroma informing him about the problem they are facing and calling for his immediate intervention but that up to now they have not heard from him.
He stressed that if nothing was done to address the situation they will be left with no alternative but to boycott the election.
He also alleged the Provincial Secretary, North and the Resident Minister, North are behind the plot to disqualify them from taking part in the election because of personal interests.
Up to the time of going to press we couldn’t get to them to get their reaction to the allegation.
