Sierra Leonean attitudes and behaviours problem
Anyone will agree or disagree with me on the issues that I am going to touch on about the attitude and behaviour of Sierra Leoneans, especially towards their social, political and individual issues. However, I do believe that any honest and sincere patriotic and nationalist Sierra Leonean will agree with me on what I am going to say about them. According to my personal research, there are two major things that are in the midst of Sierra Leoneans that are always affecting them, especially for their country’s progress and development. They are unpatriotic attitudes, and un-nationalist behaviour. Many Sierra Leoneans do not like to put the interest of their country first as compared to other citizens of some countries which I will not like to name. Therefore, all or most of the prevailing problems in the country stem from lack of true, honest and sincere patriotism and nationalism by many Sierra Leoneans both in and out of the country. We have lots of Sierra Leoneans among us who always give lip services to their patriotism and nationalism to manipulate their fellow true, honest and sincere patriotic and nationalist Sierra Leoneans. Those Sierra Leoneans who always pretend to be patriotic and nationalist can be easily detected in many ways, for instance either by their writing tone, speaking and comments, or by their way of doing things in the country. What they will say or write and what they will do, in many cases are quite different things. Such hypocrite patriotic Sierra Leoneans are enemies of peace, unity and development. Therefore, their love for the country is always very low or small because they always allow their hatred, grudges or bitterness for others to overcome them at the expense of the nation.
And also because of their tribal, political affiliation, regional sentiments, selfish and greedy ego they will prefer to create unbearable situations in the country at detriment of the poor masses. Because of such attitudes and behaviours, if given the chance they will also prefer to put the country’s peace and the current ongoing massive development at risk. For the fact that they are always thinking that by writing undertone inciting tribal, military rule or making inciting comments with fixed mindset life style, especially the disgruntled fellow Sierra Leoneans that is the only way they can vent out their frustration at the expense of the innocent poor fellow Sierra Leoneans. These types of Sierra Leoneans in our midst always like to draw inciting inferences to satisfy their devilish wicked super ego and their kith and kin at the expense of our hard earned peace in the country.
However, although sometimes it is good to open old wounds for reference purpose, one should not open them by trying to satisfy his or her disgruntled ego centric mindset by writing, speaking or by making undertone inciting tribal and regional incitements at the expense of the current development in the country. As I used to say, some of these enemies of peace, unity, progress and development are very quick and easy to escape or run away from the country for the safety of their lives and children or families after putting fire in the country. If we allow them to put the country in a conflict situation they prefer to leave their poor and defenseless fellow Sierra Leoneans killing themselves and putting their homes on fire because of the mess that they might create in the country.
They do not want to know what will happen to the poor, defenseless and powerless innocent fellow Sierra Leoneans who have nowhere to run to for their safety with their children because they lack the means (money). Therefore, such enemies of peace, love, unity and progress are always ready to put sharp knives between or among any good intention, decision, or development that is taking place. Or many tend to take place in the country because peace, love, unity and progress are their bitter enemies in the country, especially if they are not coming from their kith and kin.
We have tasted the bitterness of war once; we have also tasted military rule more than two periods, including NPRC and AFRC, etc. Therefore, I think we should have been able to reflect our minds always on the sad and bitter experiences that we had from the 11 years uncivilized brutal civil war. And also the number of times we had Junta rules, particularly the brutality, molestations, massive looting, lawlessness and indiscipline that Sierra Leoneans suffered, especially the defenseless and powerless masses in the hands of their own brothers and sisters in uniforms. Therefore, because of the horrors of our past war and military brutal rules experiences that we had, I think it is enough for if any one of us have differences in our midst or with an individual, the best thing to do is to complain or go to the round table peacefully to sort them out rather than trying to invoke another “ALBALAWO” in the country at the expense of our poor people with their children. Please we do not want them to be molested again in the streets, on the roads and in their homes by small boys and girls in khaki, khaki.
But it’s like we learned nothing good from that, particularly those who did not lose their parents, brothers, sisters, cousins, nieces, nephews, loved ones and property or whose children, families or relatives were not being amputated during such a barbaric historic war that we had. We have also heard or hearing about wars, particularly tribal wars how they destroyed or how they are destroying innocent poor and defenseless lives around us, including, Nigeria, Southern Sudan, Congo, Liberia, Kenya, Ivory Coast and the Rwanda 1994 genocide, etc. All of these wars in those countries did not solve their economic, social and political problems, because war or military rule is not the answer to such problems.
They only brought additional suffering to their people and underdevelopment, especially to the poor and defenseless masses that live in such countries. Like how we are still experiencing the bad effect of our 11 years post barbaric and vandalism war and the brutality of military rules in the country, by this time, we should have been praying to our maker, God NOT to allow such sad and bitter experiences to occur again in our history. Harassing, molesting, amputating and the killing of innocent poor people willfully because they (the khaki, khaki boys and girls or sobels) had/have guns to intimidate and terrorize the entire nation. As Carroll, M. & Gilbert, M. C. (p. 80, 2011) put it, “The price we pay for not learning from experience is that we tend to repeat what has happened rather than have other choices”
But yet, the satanic devil incarnation Sierra Leoneans amongst us still always feel and think that inciting tribal or regional war and military rule undertone because of individual differences or political affiliation in the country is the answer to the country’s chronic problems. Honestly speaking NO amount of tribal, regional or military incitement will be the solution to our country’s political and social problems. They will never be solved by war or military rule. They can only be solved by sitting together as brothers and sisters to discuss them to find the way forward. We tried war and military rule as our solution to our country’s problems, none of them succeed. As such, one will be prompted to ask questions why the pretending or lip service patriotic and nationalist Sierra Leoneans still continue to incite tribal war and military rule again in the country? What will they really have to benefit from such unpatriotic satanic feeling and thinking that war is the answer to the country’s peace, unity, progress and development problems?
In my view, one of the best way/s of solving our numerous problems in the country as I mentioned earlier is by coming together with all honesty and sincerity of purpose at a round table to discuss them one after the other instead of thinking negatively with fix mind set about going back to the dark days. Father forbid it; the poor Sierra Leoneans will NO longer prepare to accept such suffering again in their lives. They will prefer to live in peace with their children and poverty to manage their lives rather than living in war or military rule again.
One of the best approaches for peace and unity process is the round table discussions, which involved give and take or win, win processes. This approach was taken by the most patriotic and nationalist President that Sierra Leone ever had since the beginning of its history, President Earnest Bai Koroma, when he invited all the political party members at State House as a father of the nation to hang heads together to discuss the country’s problems and how to find solution/s to solve them in order to bring total peace and unity for the sake of progress and development. Such brilliant initiative was warmly welcomed by many true, honest and sincere patriotic Sierra Leoneans. They saw such a venture as a very good step in the right direction towards the country’s forwardness. Even the ten political party members that were present at the meeting were also very much impressed for President Koroma’s move according to report.
But “oh-ya”, as I said, enemies of peace, love, unity, progress and development in our midst in and out of the country are currently fighting tooth and nail to see that such lofty and laudable patriotic initiative will no longer succeed. Presently they are trying very hard to discourage President Koroma and the patriotic and nationalist political party members that attended the meeting not to continue or participate again in such a godly meeting.
For instance, currently others falsely accuse President Koroma of bribing the political parties that were present at the meeting by saying that he, President Koroma, gave them US$20,000 as transport, just to create more political misunderstanding between President Koroma and members of the ten political parties that were present in good faith at State House. Any peace, love and unity oriented Sierra Leoneans in and out of the country will not possess such satanic destructive attitude and behaviour.
They sugarcoated the story so that it would be tasted or looked like it was the ten political party members present at the meeting that gave such information to those satanic devil incarnation elements of peace and unity in the country. While others with negative unpatriotic perception attitudes described President Koroma’s call for such wonderful meeting as a fear of worse thing than the rebel war that is threatening to come. If we can put it in a more simple term, it was as if President Koroma had “smelt the rat “that was why he called such a dialogue conference. What such thing worse than the rebel war that was threatening to come? Can you imagine how narrow minded some Sierra Leoneans are!! The President did it in good patriotic and nationalist faith, instead of helping him to map the way forward for such initiative by giving positive contributions or suggestions for the sake of peace and unity building in the country. Instead the sycophantic disgruntled enemies of peace and love Sierra Leonean elements are interpreting the fantastic initiative in a very unpatriotic way to suite their devilish destructive disgruntled attitude and behaviour.
And in fact the sycophantic and idiotic praising of people who incite and promote tribalism and regionalism in the country is a complete demonstration of unpatriotic attitude and behaviour. Particularly the promotion of Sierra Leone tribal and regional inciters who cannot even have time to read an ordinary newspaper before I will talk of a voluminous document for reference. Even though when they know the consequence of such incitement and promotion, they still continue to honor such unpatriotic people in the country. Therefore, doing such wicked dishonest service behaviour, it’s like killing the entire Sierra Leoneans living in the country because the individual is putting their lives at a very serious risk. Just because of hatred, bad heart and self ego centric disgruntled attitude and behavour.
Therefore, my fellow Sierra Leoneans in and out of the country, be aware and be alert always for the country’s security. Please assist government in monitoring individual’s movement and group/s. Do not allow your wicked satanic brothers and sisters’ tribal and regional sentiments or military rule undertone promoters, especially the politicians, media men, women and the so-called musicians to take you back to the bush to go and eat nasty things with sickness with your children.
IF YOU DO encourage or listen to them, they will be eating good food with sound health with their families in Guinea, Liberia, Ghana, Europe, America, and Australia while you will be dying in the bush with your children. As I said, living in poverty with perfect peace with good health with your children is better than living in a war or military rule situation that you will have no control of your lives, respect, dignity and your properties. You know how you suffered with your families and relatives during Foday Sankoh and others RUF rebel war in the country. You also know how you suffered in the hands of NPRC -1992 and AFRC 1997 Junta governments.
Therefore, I will still continue to wage war against the promoters of tribalism, regionalism, and the undertone military inciters because of grudges, hatred, hungry and thirsty for political power at the expense of the precious lives of our poor, defenseless and powerless people in the country. We, the true, honest and sincere patriot and nationalist Sierra Leoneans in and out of the country, we are also preparing for those who are planning to introduce violence during the 2018 general elections by making their secret societies as a bridge to prevent the people from exercising their voting rights. We hope ICC will also stand by us during that period to synthesis the perpetrators. If you believe your good work and good rapport with your people, there is NO need to be violent during elections because they will easily vote you into power peacefully without forcing them.
However, Mr. President Koroma, please do not forget our people at Yenga, the Guinean soldiers really ruined that area before they left. Matotoka-Kono Road and Matotoka Yele-Bo Road. They are all very precious to us, especially in terms of the country’s progress and development. Therefore, let them be part and parcel of the agenda for prosperity.
