Momoh Konte lifts education in Sierra Leone
All roads will lead to Kabala and the outlying towns of the Koinadugu District this weekend as President Ernest Bai Koroma will formally open three new schools built by Mr. Momoh Konte, businessman, philanthropist and a native of Koinadugu District.
One of the schools to be opened is the Kabala Secondary School where Mr. Momoh Konte attended while the two other schools are in different town in Koinadugu.
An aide to the President, who confirmed the President’s consent to personally open the schools, explained that President Ernest Bai Koroma will travel to Kabala today and open one of the schools on Saturday and the other two Sunday before returning to Freetown.
He explained that President Koroma’s decision to travel to Kabala and open the schools was a manifestation of his appreciation of Mr. Konte’s developmental efforts in response to the Agenda for Prosperity.
A close aide to Mr. Momoh Konte described him as a very successful businessman and philanthropist. He explained that Mr. Konte was not working for his people because he has a political ambition like the average Sierra Leoneans mostly think.
“Mr. Konte has the burning desire to help in many areas, including education,” he pointed out. “Mr. Konte himself a graduate from the Howard and Toledo Universities in the United States of America, values education greatly,” he added.
He revealed that Mr. Konte recently gave scholarships to five young Sierra Leoneans to pursue degree courses in India.
“The man wants to do more for the deprived and underprivileged children, not only in Koinadugu, but throughout the entire country because he wants to take this country out of ignorance and poverty,” he mused.
Meanwhile our correspondent in Kabala has told us that the people of Koinadugu have vowed to give a rousing welcome to Mr. Konte as he prepares to storm his native land.
He explained that even people from different political parties have decided to unite in working and supporting Mr. Konte.
He concluded that hundreds of Sierra Leoneans from all over the country are expected to grace the occasion.
