Sierra Leone, Saudi Arabia Discuss Bilateral Parliamentary Relations

Mr. Umaru S. Dura made the remarks at a dinner organized by the Friendship Committee of the Saudi Consultative Assembly (Shura Council) at their headquarters in Riyadh last Monday.
The visits, the Charge d’ Affaires added, will boost Saudi Arabia – Sierra Leone relations, notably between the Saudi Consultative Council and the Sierra Leone Parliament.
Responding, Dr. Prince Khalid Bin Abdullah Almeshari Al- Saud of Saudi Arabia’s Consultative Assembly and Chairman of the Saudi Arabian Sierra Leone Parliamentary Friendship Committee said he looks forward to consolidating the bilateral relations between his country and Sierra Leone with the view of sustaining the friendship bonds.
During the meeting, they discussed a number of topics and issues of common concern between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and Sierra Leone, including bilateral parliamentary relations between the two countries and ways of enhancing them.
The Consultative Assembly of Saudi Arabia also known as “Majlis al-Shura” or “Shura” Council is the formal advisory body of Saudi Arabia, which is an absolute monarchy. It has 150 members. Like the Sierra Leone Parliament, the Saudi Consultative Assembly is headed by a Speaker. The current Speaker is Abdullah ibn Muhammad Al ash-Sheikh. The Consultative Assembly is based in the Al Yamamah Palace in the capital, Riyadh.
