BKPS Manager Arrested in Kenema
Based on the recent visit paid by HE Excellent President Ernest Bai Koroma in the Eastern province it is regrettable to know that on his return from Kailahun, the Bo,-Kenema power service, located at Kenema township (the Headquarter for the entire Eastern province) deliberately denied giving power supply to the town, which did not go down well with the police who are responsible for Law enforcement, who made an arrest and detained those who are involved in it. Brima Massaquoi a resident of Kenema, told Sierra Express Media that three senior officers were arrested, that is the Manager, Superintendent and other supervisors for further investigation, he said they were asked to explain why they decided to switch off the power when they very well knew that the president had promised to sleep in Kenema after attending the meeting in Kailahun Massaquoi said the Bo-Kenema Power Service (BKPS) Manager told the police in Kenema station that the act was not deliberate but due to shortage of fuel and that is the reason the power was cut that  particular night.
In his statement Brima Massaquoi explained the way and manner they are treated in Kenema concerning the electricity issue because at the time the Hydro was constructed in the regions, Kenema by then was a small town equal to Bo, but today the population in both districts has grown more than expectation, meaning the power supply is not enough for them.
However, the media officer in Kenema, Constable Koroma responded by saying whenever such an event happens in a district headquarters, those in charge of that particular area need to be questioned in order to clear the doubt the entire nation will be going with, but not withstanding the authorities in person who are directly concerned with the issue like the Managing Director, superintendent and the senior supervisors who were arrested so they also can give their own side of the story – to which they already explained the reason for the blackout that night, He furthermore, explained that the people did not spend the night in their custody as they were released that night.
