Waterloo, Nov. 6 (SLENA) – With its responsibility to help and promote the activities of orphans and the less privileged in the country, Orphans Transition Empowerment Program (OTEP) last week supported the camp for the disable in Waterloo with crutches, clothes and shoes for the inmates.
Speaking at the camp in Waterloo, the founder of OTEP, Mr. Ismail Musa described the donation to the disabled as a welcome call for the people of Sierra Leone to help the less privileged, particularly the disabled and the orphans in the country,
He informed the disabled that as an orphan himself he decided to establish this organization to help needy children and promote the interest of orphans in the country.
Mr. Musa said he was particularly delighted for the courage the disabled have in moving around to shape their lives and promised to do more for them and appealed to them to appreciate the donation.
Receiving the donation on behalf of his disabled colleagues, Moses Fayia Boima, Chairman of United Physically Challenged Organization, expressed thanks and appreciation for the donation and promised that the items will be used for their intended purposes.
Representing the Ministry of Social Welfare, Mrs. Alice Bangura who is the functional head of Social Service Department, Western Area Rural District Council in Waterloo, thanked the organization for helping the disabled in the Waterloo camp, noting that government cannot do everything but relied on other organizations to compliment its efforts.
In another development, Mr. Ismail Musa has also donated school materials including used clothes to 250 school going children in five primary schools in the Calaba Town community in order to boost the education of the less privileged.
