Making his opening statement, His Worship Mayor Bode Gibson said since after the elections on the 17 November, 2013. This is his first official visit to the east end of Freetown, although he took part in a recent unannounced   cleaning exercise in the east.

He revealed to them that from time to time they will be moving around the country with Council meetings as a way of getting closer to various communities to bring the Duties and activities of the Council to the notice of the people who voted them into office, this he noted is a way of making people feel free to raise issues and concerns about the needs of their communities and what has not been addressed through their councilors and Ward Committee members.

He raised various concerns that very soon they will be taking those who are  owing the council to court as people are owing the council billion of Leones for taxes not paid for the past years, stressing that Land Lords are collecting millions of Leones from Tenants but they are refusing to pay their city rates. He also informed Councilors and the community   people that a private company called Masada has taken over the cleaning of the city, but council will be providing assistance to them and enforcing the by-laws for people who will be refusing to stop throwing rubbish in prohibited areas.

The Mayor also revealed that the council is receiving complains from people who are staying closer to cemeteries in the city that grave diggers are exhuming corpse and exposing them to bury other death bodies which the Mayor said it is not a good practice and will have to course health hazard to people.
