Labour Minister debunks reports

Minister of Employment, Labour and Social Security Hon. Minkailu Mansaray has made moves to set matters straight with what he last Friday referred to as incorrect and mystifying of the many good works his ministry is doing to improve the employment outfit for fellow Sierra Leoneans.

Reacting to reports that his Ministry rather than finding more employment means for the Sierra Leonean youth; is engaged in various ploys to stifle the very rare opportunity that has been brought for Sierra Leoneans to gain employment overseas; the Minister said “contrary to reports, since I took over office at the Labour Ministry I have ensured that the issue of overseas employment for our youths is greatly improved upon and reorganized to suit their interest and the interest of the country.” He explained that the Iraq employment programme is not the only overseas employment facility his ministry has worked out for the youth; revealing that the government has been able to come up many such programmes in the past two years and has been working on other very fruitful employment opportunities that are soon to kick up locally in the country.

Hon. Mansaray told Sierra Express Media that “the government is very particular about the welfare of its citizens therefore ensures that wherever they are taken to in the world, they are safe and well, adding that all the government is doing in the current Iraq jobs is to ensure among other things that youths who pick up jobs in Iraq are safe and their monies gainfully protected.

He revealed that series of other overseas employment contracts have been signed by his Ministry wherein thousands of Sierra Leoneans will have the opportunity to be gainfully employed overseas; with a lot of benefits to the economy and welfare people living back home. He talked of employment opportunities that have been opened for Abu Dhabi in the UAE, Dubai and many other places that will be exciting for young Sierra Leoneans.

Back home Hon. Minkailu Mansaray said we are hoping that through the various contracts the government has signed with corporate companies in the private sector that more than 20, 000 jobs will soon be available to youths which he added will upset the present employment situation in the country.
