Scrap metal passes vote of no confidence on their president
The Sierra Leone Scrap Metal Association has passed a vote of non confidence against their president, Mr. Omotayor Vida McCarthy on allegation of fraud amounting to billion of leones and failing to secure the office and official amount for the association.
This decision came after several concerns have been forwarded to the office of the Vice President, Chief Alhaji Samuel Sam Sumana.
At a well attended meeting which was held at the John F Kennedy school campus Old Railway Line, Cline Town, Sunday 8th September 2013, the Acting Secretary of the organization, Mr. Samuel S C Yobondo thanked all members present for their bold decision taken against their president for Mr. Omotayor Vida McCarthy.
In this contribution, as the Hon Paramount Chief of Bombali Seborah chiefdom, P C Bai Seborah Kassangha11 said the decision was a clear manifestation as an organization worth its salt. He commended the entire executive and members the association for taking the bold step in his chiefdom in ensuring tree planting exercise is seen as a reality.
PC Bai Seborah Kassangha noted that the UN and government are more concerned on the issue of global warming, pointing out that as the first gentleman in that district, he will ensure that the message goes across to his colleague paramount chiefs in the Bombali district.
There was the symbolic planting of a tree by the Hon PC Kassangha II at the agriculture compound in Makeni.
Hundreds of members witnessed the historic making event in the district where several personalities made meaningful contribution including the Bombali district council.
Amongst several allegation that were raised against Mr. Omotayor Vida McCarthy, President of the Serra Leone Scrap Metal Association included failing to call meetings during his (8)eight years of leadership and not using or having an office as a responsible association despite exorbitant funds they have been collected from foreign investors including Indians and Nigerians.
Another allegation against Mr. McCathy is the attitude of not opening up to members of the organization.
In his contribution, the interim chairman, Mr. Mohamed Mambo Dumbuya assured that after their six month they will come up with a date for election into various offices of the association.
Mr. Mohamed Mambo Dumbuya noted that as from date they no loner more recognized Mr. Omotayor Vida McCarthy as president and his entire cabal. He called on the entire membership nationwide to remain clam, quiet and confidence and cautioned all investors in the scape metal business to stop with immediate effect having business with that cabal.
