Rodolfo Zapata back to Nigeria?
Nigerian football team, Sunshine Stars FC, identified the need for the new manager to take on a more ‘holistic’ approach, with President Mike Idoko having singled out Rodolfo Zapata as the most appropriate candidate.
The Argentinean has had a long and varied managerial career, taking in clubs in South Africa, USA, Canada and Nigeria, as well as his homeland.
“Rolo” Zapata guided tournament under-dogs Sunshine Stars and MP Black Aces (South Africa) to the latter stages of the competition, earning plaudits for their attractive style of play.
Always Zapata has inspired players to perform beyond themselves. The Argentinean has favoured a 4-3-2-1 formation, although he preferred abetter ball control with a 4-1-4-1 with four playmakers when he took MP Black Aces FC in 2012.
It is this African pedigree which appears to have won the attention of Sunshine Stars President Mike Idoko.
