SLPP is back for you (a poem for everyone)
If you live in your home and electricity is a luxury If you live in your community and access to clean drinking water is a miracle If the cost of fuel, diesel or transportation is taking a toll on your income If you are homeless, jobless, a beggar, or underprivileged and things are getting worse The SLPP is back for you If you are parents and do not have money to buy school materials for your children when schools re-open If you are a mother and the prices of food stuffs are hitting the family purse If you are a father but you do not have a job to care for your family If you are a family and you are worried the next time the armed robbers will knock your door The SLPP is back for you If you are a youth and fed up with being jobless and people looking down on you If you are a child and you live your life in the street without hope If you are old and everyone has given up on you because you are poor If you live in slum communities and the rains have destroyed your homes and properties The SLPP is back for you If you are a graduate but you have been jobless for many years If you are a student and has lost hope in our educational system If you have a small business and you want to expand but have no financial support If you have are an investor or a new business and the economic climate is your major concern The SLPP is back for you If you are a journalist and you always feel threatened by the use of the Public Order Act If you are a soldier, but your conditions of service and living are getting worst If you have a talent for music, acting, filming or any art but do not have the support to utilise your talents If you are a teacher and your salary does not come in time so you survive on private lessons SLPP is back for you If you are a civil servant but your conditions of service does not reflect the cost of living If you work in the private sector but you do not have opportunities to progress your career If you want to work in the private sector but there is not enough job opportunities If you live in the diaspora and want to help in nation building but everything is so politicised The SLPP is back for you If you are citizen and you are worried because our country tops the Transparency International Report for bribery If you are citizen and you are worried that our country is at the bottom ten of poverty index If you are a citizen and you are worried because we have one of the worst child and infant mortality rates If you are a citizen and still genuinely concern that our mining industry is not transparent enough The SLPP is back for you.By: Yusuf Keketoma Sandi
