Education and sports for development donates to war wounded academy

On receiving the donation, the Principal of the Academy Mr. Sheriff Tarawally disclosed that the school comprises of Primary, Secondary and Technical Vocational Institute. He revealed that Government has approved the teachers since 2010 but they have not received salaries since then. Mr. Tarawally however named the school as private institution because government has still not taken charge of the academy. The school has sat to three WASSCE Examinations he maintained and added that the school needs speedy intervention. He therefore registered his profound gratitude to the Education and Sports for Development for what he referred to as a timely gesture. The Principal noted that the donation will create a great impact on pupils and assured that the books will be used for its intended purpose.
Executive Director Mr. McCollins Jones said that the aim of his organization is to promote Educational and Sporting activities for young people in the country. This organization was registered in 2010 and have donated to sport council, Lawab-boyd Elementary school, Sierra Leone Grammar School, Murray Town community youth football and a host of other sectors. Mr. Jones revealed that most of the funds come from his pocket because he has passion for education and sports in his homeland Sierra Leone. “I also get support from the Nova Scotia University who provides me with some school materials”, he revealed.
