Okada Riders Vandalize Road Transport Bus in Sierra Leone

Motor Bike riders hurled stones and other missiles at a bus belonging to the Sierra Leone Road Transport Corporation living the windshield and other side glasses smashed and passengers injured.

The Masiaka Police Division have charge two ‘okada’ riders to the Masiaka Magistrate Court on a one count charge of malicious damage.

On 24th of June this year Ibrahim Duratin and Dauda Koroma residents of Newton attacked and caused damage to a Sierra Leone Road Transport Corporation bus with registration number AGM 972.

According to the particulars of offence, these two motor bike riders pelted stones and broke the windscreen, side glass, and wounded ten passengers onboard the bus that was heading for Bo.

Fatmata Monday Kargbo, the Local Unit Commander of Masiaka Police Division, disclosed to this medium that the police received intelligence information that a group of okada coming from Newton and heading to Mile 91 purportedly conveying the remains of their colleague okada rider for burial. Spt. Monday Kargbo disclosed that the riders chased the bus and tried to halt it on the highway between Masiaka and Ma-sesay, alleging that the driver had killed a colleague of theirs.

Police patrol team from Mile 91 made a swift response and quelled the violence and two arrests were made.

DWPC 8638 Sesay Ramatu attached to the Masiaka Police Division intimated to this press that after the assessment of the damage it was discovered that the total cost is Le 16 million. The driver of the bus is Chernor Mutarr Barrie of Freetown.
