Moyamba Junction health centre lacks water facility

Moyamba, July (SLENA): The Moyamba Junction Health Centre is one that lacks safe drinking water and living quarters for its staff, according to SLENA sources.

In an interview with the Community Health Officer, Joseph N’gbaka told SLENA that the health centre is looking after patients from the surrounding villages and the common diseases reported at the clinic are malaria and diarrhea.

He said the lack of clean water is responsible for the high rate of malaria and diarrhea in the Moyamba Junction community.

He also disclosed that because of the lack of accommodation for his staff they all live outside the junction and travel miles every day to reach the centre.

Meanwhile, the Community Health Officer at Mile 91, David Conteh complained about the lack of mobility at Mile 91 and appealed for an ambulance for both Moyamba Junction and Mile 91 because as he put it the two towns are critical areas of the country.
