Six more Ambassadors present credentials to ECOWAS president

The President of the ECOWAS Commission, Dr. Mohamed Ibn Chambas, has received credentials from six more Ambassadors accredited to ECOWAS as their countries’ permanent representatives to the regional institution. They are Mr. Denis Kingsley of Canada, Mrs. Angela Colley of The Gambia, Alhaji Issifu Baba Braimah Kamara of Ghana, Mr. Rifat Rondic of Serbia, Mr. Kingsley Mamabolo of South Africa and Mr. Enrique Fernando Arrundell James of Venezuela.

At the separate accreditation ceremonies on Tuesday, 9th February 2010 in Abuja, the Ambassadors expressed their desires to collaborate with ECOWAS and contribute to the realization of the integration objectives of the organization.

In his own remarks, Dr. Chambas expressed the hope that their appointments would further encourage the development of initiatives that would accelerate the pace of integration in West Africa, for the greater well-being of the peoples of the region.

While thanking the governments of the countries for the appointments of the Ambassadors, Dr. Chambas also prayed that their appointments would both reinforce the cooperation between them and ECOWAS as well as further deepen the close ties between their peoples and West Africa.

The accreditation closely follows a similar exercise which took place at the ECOWAS Commission in Abuja on Tuesday, 19th January 2010 involving Argentina, Austria, Brazil, Italy, Japan and Togo.
