MBOPA Promotes Education
The Muslim Brotherhood Old Pupils Association (MBOPA), on Tuesday, June 18, 2012, distributed assorted examination materials to over 400 Junior Secondary School (JSS) 3 pupils for the 2012/2013 academic year.
Addressing the beneficiaries shortly before the presentation on the Sierra Leone Muslim Brotherhood (SLMB) School campus at Berry Street, Freetown, the President of MBOPA, Abubakarr Koroma, said the donation of the materials was geared towards helping not only the pupils but also minimizing the economic burden of their parents and guardians.
He described education as a necessary tool that accelerates development and urged pupils to pay maximum attention to their educational pursuit. Mr. further advised the pupils to put aside those vices that could serve as an impediment to their attainment of their academic aspirations.
Being the Communication Director at the National Aids Secretariat, Mr. Koroma admonished the recipients to avoid HIV/AIDS by adhering to the golden principles of avoidance, behavior change and condom use.
Responding, the Acting Principal of SLMB Junior Secondary School, Abu Thoronka, expressed tremendous thanks to MBOPA for the kind gesture and expressed hope that it will continue. The principal noted that this year’s donation did not come as a surprise since this is the third time the association is donating to the school. He entreated the pupils to emulate the good example of the past pupils in the interest of the school and the country in general.
The Deputy Chairman of MBOPA, Mohamed Awalu and the Secretary-General, Lamin Tarawalie, also expressed similar sentiments.
