Kambia Customs Raise Le5 Billion
The Gbalamuya Customs Post in Kambia has raised Le5 Billion as revenue generated for the state from January to the end of May this year.
This information was relayed to journalists by the Collector, Sigismond Wilkinson, during a news conference in Gbalamuya past Saturday.
Mr. Kamara told journalists that they have far exceeded the their target of Le500 Million per month, adding that his bosses in Freetown are very much pleased with him and his team for generating such huge revenue in five months, irrespective of the negative publicity against him by some sectors of the media.
He described himself as the best customs collector that has ever headed the Gbalamuya Customs Post by virtue of the massive revenue he has generated in five years.
Wilkinson noted that those besmearing him in the media are the detractors who are hell bent on undermining his efforts in raising money for the state.
“I bear no grudge against my detractors; I am determined to press forward with my good work as I am result-oriented, firm, focused, dedicated to duty and seasoned in the world of administration.
He informed that the trailer which was undervalued did not pass through Gbalamuya, emphasising that he will never engage in any activity that bears the potential to erode his credibility which he has established for several years, concluding that the Immigration and the Port Health Departments have also generated appreciable revenue.
