Sierra Leone’s Rising Movie Star in Big Brother Africa

Michael Bonny Bassey is one of the housemates at this year’s Big Brother Africa Season 8 reality show.  The show started on Sunday 26th May and will continue until August.  Big Brother Africa is the most popular reality TV Show in the African continent and continues to attract many fans and admirers.

Directions for Voting

You can vote for Bassey by texting “BASSEY” to 2626 using Africell, Comium and Airtel. You can also vote by setting up an account on the Big Brother Africa website (http://bigbrotherafrica.dstv.com/ ). If you are outside Sierra Leone, you can only vote by using your account on the website.

Last year, Sierra Leone was represented by two females, Zainab and Alexander. However, this year, two males are representing Sierra Leone; Michael and Adrian Lewis.

Early life and career of Michael bonny Bassey

Michael Bonny Bassey was born in Freetown, Sierra Leone, on the 7th January 1991 at the Wilberforce military hospital.

Michael attended the Madam Lady Cole Nursery and Preparatory School at Indian Temple, Wilkinson Road.  He later enrolled to the Murray Town Army Primary Municipal School where he spent three years, and later transferred to the Saint Anthony’s Boys Primary School where he took the NPSE exams and successfully gained admission to the Sierra Leone Grammar School, where he completed his senior secondary education before gaining admission to the acclaimed Fourah Bay College (FBC) in his home country, Sierra Leone.  He graduated from FBC with a Diploma is African Studies and Drama.  He is presently a third year Bachelor’s degree student at FBC with a major in History and Sociology.

Michael began his career in acting at the tender age of four, starring in various school productions and talent shows. Michael started auditioning for feature films when he completed secondary school education (form 6/ A- Levels) without much success.  His career turned around when he landed his first role in a movie called “THE CHANGE”. Since then Michael has featured in over 10 movies in Sierra Leone including block busters like “DIAMOND WAHALA,” “SECRET MURDERER” and “BEYOND SACRIFICE.”

Michael is from a humble Christian home, and he continues to receive a tremendous amount of support from his family and friends.  Michael‘s passion for acting has made him a household name in Sierra Leone.

In 2013, Michael emerged as the first winner ever at the first National Youth Excellence Awards for film in Sierra Leone. Michael is a very diligent worker, friendly, extremely talented, and above all, he is a God fearing person.
