Sierra Leone TV Presenter Bags Prestigious Award
It is stated in the Bible that a master who was about to go on a journey called his servants and gave them talents according to their abilities. Two invested theirs while the other dug a hole and kept his own talent. The master on his return acknowledged the good work of the two servants who invested their talent by adding to their talent. Equally so, His Excellency Dr Ernest Bai Koroma on Saturday, April 27th,2013 gave meritorious awards to several Sierra Leone nationals and non-nationals in honor of their good works in the country. The president gave the awards during an impressive ceremony at State House at the occasion marking the 52nd Independence Anniversary of Sierra Leone.
One of the awardees is a TV presenter of the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC), Rose Konima Stevens. During an exclusive interview with this reporter at her residence shortly after receiving the award, Rose Stevens said she felt elated, honored and dignified by the prestigious award, adding that the award has enthused her to do more.
Rose Stevens admitted that although the award came as a surprise, she believes that she got it by virtue of her dedication to duty and due to the popularity of the programme she presents on SLBC Television, View Finder.
View Finder, she said, was the baby of the former Director-General of SLBC, Dr. Ivan Agibola Thomas, who said the public should see beyond what they hear on the Radio.
Konima Stevens has been encouraging Sierra Leonean women, especially those in the print and electronics media, to be committed and devoted to duty and to maintain integrity, dignity and self pride so that they can also be recognized.
Rose Konima Stevens has a teaching certificate from the Eastern Polytechnic and has a Diploma in Mass Communications coupled with other certificates received from several institutions.
