Sierra Leonean musician Innocent to embark on music course in UK

Prince Kuti-George, aka Innocent, has disclosed to SaloneJamboree that he has gained admission at the Musicians Friend University in the UK. He said he will soon embark on a short study course on professional audio technology in music.  (Photo: Photojournalist Mo. and Innocent)

The ‘Gee Dem Notice’ star said he is done with revolutionary music and wants to explore other areas in music. The controversial artist said he feels he is a legend.  “I have established myself so much that upcoming artists imitate my style and want to be like me.”

Innocent denied a purported song which sings against the ruling APC government. “That song was done by an upcoming artist. I have no idea about it but I feel good for people to imitate my style; it tells you how far I have gone in music,” he told SaloneJamboree at State House, shortly after he was decorated by President Koroma with the Presidential medal-Gold on Independence Day.

He said further, “Besides, I have been quiet for a while now.” Asked whether the award is a compensation for his support to the ruling All People’s Congress (APC) party government, the artist denied it.  He said he has been a revolutionary artist, singing on issues. I have never sung a song calling the name of President Koroma or APC.  I am a professional critic.”  He said most time people think he supports the APC which, according to him, is not the case.

Innocent is expected to leave Sierra Leone for the UK in two months time to start his studies. He said he has already completed the online part of the course. “I am done with revolutionary music, I want to do other type of music and become the country’s number one engineer,” he said.

He thanked the President for the awards and promised to live up to expectations.
