Unsurprisingly… President Koroma Boycotts Convocation in Sierra Leone
His Excellency the President of the Republic of Sierra Leone and Chancellor of the University, Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma, is reported to have boycotted this year’s convocation of the University of Sierra Leone, USL, held past Saturday on the Fourah Bay College, FBC, campus.
Reports say the president’s boycott did not come as a surprise as he had already decided not to attend the ceremony for unknown reasons.
Although the president is yet to give reasons why he boycotted this year’s convocation, our investigations revealed that his decision emanated from the embarrassment he received at the past convocation of the Njala University College (NUC) where he was deserted while he was delivering his speech. Our investigations further reveal that the president deliberately decided to boycott this year’s USL convocation to eschew another embarrassment like the one he got at the NUC’s convocation.
Since President Koroma was re-inaugurated after the controversial 2012 elections, he has been a recipient of a succession of embarrassments, starting in the Eastern provincial city, Kenema, where the councilors he went to inaugurate wore black clothes to receive him, claiming to be mourning the death of democracy in Sierra Leone.
The president is reported to have got a similar embarrassment in Bo where, according to eyewitnesses, he was not given the usual standing ovation, nobody clapped when he spoke as people wore frowned faces and most of the dignitaries he invited did not turn up.
President Koroma’s succession of embarrassments started on the very day of his re-inauguration as almost all of the presidents invited failed to attend the ceremony was vividly unimpressive with comparatively few Sierra Leoneans and few political parties in attendance.

We have just celebrated Easter; those of us who went to Church were reminded about the Christ who took human flesh and died for sins he did not commit and how he was betrayed, humiliated and crucified by the very people he came to save.
I am sure that people who could not have their way and able to do what they like, I mean the selfish ones are not going to like a leader they cannot work with.
President Koroma is not only a leader but a savior of our country Sierra Leone. You will only know this when you open your eyes positively and see the bigger picture, of (National Interest).Good to listen to comments attributed to President Koroma by progressive world leaders like Obama and others in the western world.Ref. the recent visit to the USA is one that should make you proud of your country.
9th April 2013I am sure that the President has more important duties to perform for his people that will earn him the respect and dignity he deserves as a National leader. They should save him whatever humiliation they have for him this time

So because of what happened at Njala University, he refused to attend another Educational functions? I think he is becoming a dictator, this means that no one should creticise him. This man dos’nt respect educational values. He is not other than APC before, he is APC yesterday, today and tomorrow.
