Sierra Leone’s Deputy Minister of Information Arrives in Saudi Arabia

Sierra Leone’s Deputy Minister of Information and Communications, Hon. Theo Nicol has arrived in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to attend an Open-Ended Experts Meeting at the headquarters of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) General Secretariat in Jeddah from 23rd – 24th February, 2013.  (Photo: Hon Theo Nicol at the OIC Conference)

The meeting is aimed at establishing an OIC Satellite Channel that would focus on commercial, economic and financial issues, including, information, tourism, culture, health, education, science and technology. OIC officials say one of the aims of the channel is to consolidate cooperation among OIC member states.

The OIC (formerly Organization of the Islamic Conference) is the second largest inter-governmental organization after the United Nations which has membership of 57 states spread over four continents. Sierra Leone became a member of the OIC in 1971 under the presidency of the late Dr. Siaka Probyn Stevens.

The Deputy Information Chief is accompanied by the Ministry’s Communications Adviser, Mr. Mohamed Alie Bah.
