3 man US delegation to attend President Koroma’s inauguration
A three man United States of America delegation has taken off for Sierra Leone on a one day official visit to attend the inauguration of President Ernest Bai Koroma.
President Koroma won Sierra Leone’s November 17th polls by a very wide margin (58.7%) in one of Africa’s most transparent, free, fair and credible elections in recent times.
The three man delegation is led by Honorable Carrie Hessler-Radlet, Acting Director of the Peace Corps.
Other members of the delegation include Ms. Kathleen Fitzgibbon, Charge D`Affairs United States Embassy and Mr. Conor L Sanchez, Special Assistant to the Director, office of the Director, Peace Corps.
Peace Corps volunteers have made a great impact in people’s lives in the world over, and Sierra Leone is no exception.
Many Sierra Leoneans can attest to the fact that Peace Corps volunteers in various academic disciplines (mathematics, science and English) have helped countless individuals, by profoundly changed their lives into becoming useful citizens.
Peace Corps work on issues reaching from AIDS education to information technology and preservation of the environment.
The Peace Corps has its roots and mission as far back as 1960, when former Senator and later President John F. Kennedy encouraged students of the University of Michigan to serve their country in the cause of peace by living and working in developing countries.
