SLPP parliamentarian urges President Koroma to do more for youths
Freetown, (SLENA): While contributing to the debate on the 2013 budget, Member of Parliament for Constituency 72, Bo District, has argued that President Koroma has failed the youths of this nation, noting that the allocation in the budget for youth activism is insignificant, saying the amount allocated in the 2013 budget is not enough to embark on any meaningful developments programmes.
Hon. Bashiru Silikie noted that 45% of the population of the country consists of youth but sadly no major programme has been set aside for them from which they could realize their full potentials.
Speaking on the responsibilities of the youth and sport ministry, the SLPP parliamentarian said nothing has been done by that ministry to project the interest of youths in the country, arguing further that the man heading the ministry as minister does not fall within the description of a youth.
He urged President Koroma to take the welfare of the youth as a matter of priority in his Agenda for Prosperity as earlier pronounced in his statement during the state opening of parliament by allocating more resources to the youth ministry.
