Road Safety Seminar Ends

It is no secret that several Sierra Leoneans have been sent to their untimely graves by the rampant road accidents that now characterize our highways, a situation that has become a cause for alarm among many well-meaning citizens and institutions.

In a bid to combat the ugly situation, the Sierra Leone Road Transport Authority, in concert with other stakeholders, has embarked on a vigorous road safety campaign, sensitizing drivers and other road users on road safety precautions.

The Authority has concluded a day-long seminar on road safety held at the British Council Auditorium at Tower Hill in Freetown on Thursday February 7th.

In his opening address, SLRTA Chairman, Abu Bakarr Amara, noted that the Authority is working in partnership with other stakeholders like drivers, bike riders, schools, mosques and communities to make the road safety campaign a success, adding that the seminar will focus on the promotion of Operation WID.  He described the seminar as timely considering the heightened spate of road accidents.

The seminar is one of the series of road safety campaign sessions organized nationwide by the SLRTA in order to minimize road accidents on especially our highways.
