The mandate of the National Youth Coalition is to advocate for the general welfare of Sierra Leonean youths, to develop their full potential and fundamental human rights progressively. The Coalition has not relented in coordinating and meeting some of the basic needs of youths in the country. This is why they have ever since remained to focus on areas dominated by youths. The Coalition is a network of various youth organizations in the country that has been monitoring the activities within communities in the country.

Following the observation of the November 2013 elections, the Coalition was amongst several organizations received accolade from local and international organizations for a job well done. The Coalition received various equipment as a donation from the European Union in Sierra Leone. These items have been distributed amongst its members in Bo, Kenema and Freetown.

The items include mobile phones, modem, shovels, GPRS, laptops and other items.

The Outgoing President of National Youth Coalition Ishmael Al-Sankoh Conteh Islam commended the European Union for the support, which he said will go a very long way in enhancing youth development. He admonished the recipients of the donated items to ensure that they are well taken care of. He promised that the Coalition has a very good intention to transform Sierra Leone.

Salieu A.B. Kargbo,  the Secretary General of the Coalition, commended the youths for monitoring the past elections.
