Big welcome for Usu Boie, Sierra Leone Trade and Industry Minister

Arriving in Bo this past Saturday, the minister was received by the Resident Minister South, Hon. Muctarr Conteh at the Presidential Lodge in Bo, during which the visiting minister had close discussions with APC stalwarts in Bo.
The minister later visited the head office of the Traders’ Union office in Bo and held fruitful talks with the traders.
Welcoming the minister, the Southern Regional Chairman of the Traders Union, Mr. Moses, congratulated Alhaji Usman Boie Kamara on his new appointment and expressed the hope that the new minister will promote the collective aspirations of the traders.

The chairman used the occasion to inform the minister about the recent fire disaster in Bo which destroyed warehouses belonging to the traders with property worth millions of Leones.
The traders informed the minister about a site called Kola Store in the Shenge market area which they believe could be a convenient place to sell their wares and pleaded with the minister to ensure the site is made available to them as they have been driven from the streets.
“If the government can do that for us through you, the minister, then the sky will be your limit,” the traders said.

Responding, the minister first sympathized with the affected traders who had lost property in the fire incident and assured them that he will do everything in his power to ensure that the Kola Store site is made available to them but urged them to be patient as Rome was not built in a day. “The good thing about this government is that you have a president who has the people of this country at heart unlike some African leaders,” he told them.
He called on the traders to be law abiding in the wake of Operation WID and work towards realizing the President’s Agenda for Prosperity.

From Bo, the minister travelled to Mattru Jong to attend the funeral of the mother of one of his domestic workers. The following morning, he travelled to Kenema to pay a courtesy call on one of his long standing friends, M.A. Sandi, former regional chairman east, of the opposition SLPP.
At the reception hosted by M.A. Sandi, Usu Boie, as he is popularly called, thanked his host for what he referred to as a grand reception and recalled that Kenema was the first place he worked as mines engineer upon his return from studies overseas in 1972.
“Today, I speak to you not as a mines engineer but as a trade minister,’ he recalled with great delight.
The minister was privileged to meet a cross section of the Kenema traders and other dignitaries in the region where he reiterated President Koroma’s desire to move this country forward through the Agenda for Prosperity.
One of the beneficiaries to the pilgrimage to the Holy Land of Mecca
Speaker after speaker from the three districts of Kenema, Kailahun and Kono spoke highly of the Trade minister, particularly those he sponsored to perform last year’s pilgrimage to the Holy Land of Mecca, a promise he had kept with many of his supporters.
Among the dignitaries that attended the reception in honour of Alhaji Usman Boie Kamara was the Resident Minister east, William Juana Smith.
