In Sierra Leone – Over Streetlight Project, Contractor on the run

The Indian contractor of Angelic Group of Companies awarded the street light project, is rumored to be on the run over some anomalies he stands to answer to.

It is a nationwide criticism, taunting Sierra Leoneans as the project kick-starts its operation in Freetown. It has attracted public eyebrows. The project worth in the region of 36 billion Leones is said to be a deliberate ploy to spend tax payer’s monies recklessly.

As the project unfolds first faze at the Wilkinson Road, citizens say it is a public eyesore as the product of the lights are as dim as hurricane lantern. Our sources reveal the contractor is ill at ease as the hit of questions are coming from all sectors of the public.

The project entails beautifying Freetown and its district headquarter town with erecting streetlights. The contract was awarded back in 2009; to-date we are yet to see a quarter of its completion talk-less of completion.

It could be recalled, that when this contract reached the public domain a month to our general election it attracted public debate, under which Admire Koroma, younger sister of president Koroma was accused of having a stake in Angelic Group of Companies,  thereby swaying the contract in their favor.

Sierra Leoneans are trumpeting the intervention of the nation’s integrity institution, the Anti Corruption Commission to probe into contract details.

This medium shall increase its findings to unearth more about of that contract.
