“Put politics aside ….” Oya Sankoh
The Deputy Minister of Social Welfare, Gender & Children’s Affairs, Madam Rosaline Oya Sankoh called on the people and supporters of the APC party in Constituency 63, which covers Gbonkelenkeh chiefdom in the Tonkolili district to “put politics aside and embrace the losers in the just concluded 17 November polls.”
Madam Oya Sankoh made these remarks recently in Yele town at a meeting during a ‘thank you’ tour with the new Member of Parliament for Constituency 63, Hon Dr. Alusine Sesay aka ADB who replaced the former APC parliamentarian Hon David Bai Conteh.
The Deputy Minister said the elections are over and we all should embrace each other, especially our brothers and sisters in the SLPP in order to achieve the ideals and aspirations for the Agenda for Prosperity.
She pointed out that the just concluded elections should not be used as a yard stick to create enemies, noting that President Ernest Bai Koroma is no longer representing the APC but the entire country. She explained that the new MP is not just for the APC in the constituency but for everybody regardless of party preference.
Oya Sankoh called those people who are in the habit of using provocative and abusive language on supporters of the opposition to desist and urged them to come together be united and love one another in a bid to move the country to a higher height as Sierra Leone is bigger than any one political party.
The meeting was organized by the Deputy Minister, a daughter of the soil, and the MP elect to deliberate on issues bordering the development of the chiefdom.
She thanked the people for their massive support for their confidence in the MP and the councilor, as well as re-electing president Ernest Bai Koroma to serve the nation for a second term.
Oya Sankoh admonished the people to bury the hatchet by turning a new page in finding solutions to the problems affecting them and reminded them about the priorities which include improved road networks, health and education, among others.
The new MP elect Hon. Dr. Alusine Sesay thanked his people for their support and cooperation and assured them that he will not let them down as he will seek their interest while in Parliament.
The chairman of the constituency, Mr. Amadu Kanu, thanked Oya Sankoh for the love she has for the people, the president and Sierra Leone as a whole. The meeting attracted members of APC and SLPP parties.
