Good Radiance and False Alarm

The people of Sierra Leone have displayed their ability to undertake elections democratically and have therefore once again relayed a positive message to the world. Foreign observers from credible organizations like the European Union (EU) and the ECOWAS observer teams have endorsed a free and fair election in Sierra Leone.

The voting process in the polls went on peacefully with little reports of fracas notwithstanding hews of foul.

Today the country, faced with inciting rumors making the rounds like a wild hamattan fire and creating panic. Rumors about an arms catch and curfew are also a cause of concern but the police are certainly above the situation. Citizens must stay calm.

We must not panic but rather realize that hoodlums, thieves, or ‘Rah-ray boys’ are on standby, seeking for the least opportunity to convert it into what will allow them to carry their nefarious or robbery activities. We must not panic as good radiance overcomes false alarms.

We must be prepared as Sierra Leoneans to accept the results that the National Electoral Commission (NEC) will release shortly.

For the sake of peace and tranquility, let us don’t take elections personal but look at it from a nationalistic point of view. Sierra Leone is one and the people must be one people. Lonta!!
