Ahead of Senegal Trip…African Minerals Held Retired Heroes to 1-1 Draw

The Retired National Football Heroes of Sierra Leone on Saturday 10th November 2012, were held to a 1-1 draw by the African Minerals Mining Company FC at the Football Academy playing ground, Kingtom.

Both teams lined up an impressive squad, as the match kicked off both teams displayed an encouraging performance in the entire first half as they were held goalless.

Obai Serry Kamal of African Minerals Mining Company opened the score mid 2nd half from a quick spot kick, after wasting several golden opportunities to kill the game off in their favor. Amidu Karim leveled the score to a 1-1 late in the 89 minute of the second half to rescue the Veteran Football Heroes.  The Retired National Football Heroes are also preparing for the West African Football Union (WAFU) Veteran football competition scheduled for next month.

Some key players who were in action for the Retired National Football Heroes were Jeffery Kabia, Charlie Wright, Rashid, De Cox, Kemokai Kallon, Coach Gullit, Junior Konneh, Abu Sankoh, Coach A.D Koroma, Tostao, Ajamie Oaliah, Prince Opoka and Alhaji Pawpaw.

The Chairman Umaru Din Sesay, Vice Chairman Brima Mazola Kamara, and King Kama Dumbuya all sang praises for the impressive performance put up by the veterans against a very youthful side.
