PPRC PUBLIC NOTICE
16th October, 2012 – The Political Parties Registration Commission (PPRC) is concerned that a number of institutions and agencies have organised events including but not limited to signing of declarations, manifestos, trainings and communiqués without due reference or information to the PPRC about such events. The Commission wishes it to be known that it is the only institution that has the Constitutional and Statutory mandates to monitor, supervise and regulate the conduct of political parties in Sierra Leone. Justifiably therefore, it is prudent for agencies and institutions to give prior information or notification to the PPRC about their engagement with political parties for the effective monitoring of such events. This is not to suggest by any means an attempt by the PPRC to limit access to political parties but rather a move to increase information on the activities of political parties to the Commission.
In the same vein, all political parties are urged to inform the PPRC about events, communiqués, memorandums or agreements it wishes to enter into by any institution or organisation. This is to enhance effective monitoring and supervision of the activities of Political Parties by the PPRC.
