Freetown City Council Sierra Leone in Search of Billions
The Acting Chief Administrator of the Freetown City Council (FCC), Mr. John Conteh, has disclosed to this press that council has commenced a revenue collection drive in order to retrieve funds owed to them in the tune of hundreds of millions of Leones. He was speaking from his Wallace Johnson Street office on Wednesday 3rd October where he revealed that these monies are debts owed the FCC by tax payers for local taxes, city rates, fees, municipal licenses, market dues, etc.
The FCC is currently not under the management and policy makers that is the mayor and councilors, but is headed by the Acting Chief Administrator who further revealed on of the areas that need serious attention such as the declining financial situation.
Mr. Conteh however pointed out that even when the council has reached a conclusion to undertake a massive revenue collection drive, officials have been faced with enormous constraints such as physical confrontations especially in residential areas and lorry parks.
The Acting Chief Administrator cautioned tax invaders to adhere to the respective responsibility and be law abiding.
