Thumbs up for Sam …!
The Presidential candidate has spoken once and everyone has heard it! The long and protracted battle for just one man, one name, and one seat hass ended and the lot fell on Alhaji Chief Samuel Sam-Sumana (in photo).
What next?
When the Secretary General of the All Peoples Congress (APC) party Comrade Victor Bockarie Foh broke the silence in the quiet hours of Sunday 30th September, at precisely 21:00 hours, the news flourished like wild fire in Harmatan.
Foh said, it has pleased the Presidential Candidate to name Alhaji Chief Samuel Sam-Sumana as his running mate for the November 17th Elections. Indeed it is the prerogative of His Excellency the President Dr. Ernest Bai Koroma to choose whosoever he deems fit to steer the mantle of the office of the vice presidency of which Sam is.
Apart from the claims made by the president himself of his substantive vice president as we heard from grapevine news, Sam-Sumana’s resilience, humility and prowess deserves much more to write home about.
Sincerely what throbbed our hearts most was what could VP Sam-Sumana have done in the past five years to deserve a change?
Popular reggae superstar Joseph Hills said in one of his songs ‘see them, come meet with them is a different thing…’ The VP has certainly measured up to the expectation of his boss and therefore the only alternative is the chosen one.
Probably Comrade Foh was also right to ascertain that it was an opposition gimmick to attempt to stain the image a pragmatic gentleman in a desperate bid to wow Kono votes, not to talk about the celebrated scathing scandals from cross sections of both the international and local media.
A Sierra Leonean political observer asserted that ‘the appointment and the re-appointment of Alhaji Sam Sumana as the All Peoples Congress (APC) presidential running mate should not be relegated to only destiny, or taken for granted; but must be seen as a provision from Providence or God or Yataa or Allah, in direct response to the cries of our fathers and fore-fathers and a reward for our patience’. Kono must be happy by now because president Koroma has reposed confidence in them by turning in a son of the soil. Now it is expected that Sam remain hard and firm as he had always been to translate the president’s agenda for prosperity far and wide on to fruition.
Meanwhile we hope and wish the vice president and newly appointed running mate for the November 17th polls Samuel Sam-Sumana and his captain president Ernest Bai Koroma a trail blazing campaign so that they both achieve their earthly desire which we believe is for the good of the entirety of the people of Sierra Leone.
